DIY Beauty Secrets – Facial Masks

Hello! Lina here! 🙂

In today’s post, I’ll start a series here on the blog called: “DIY Beauty Secrets”, where I’m gonna be chatting and showing recipes for your face, body and hair using: Essential Oils, Carrier Oils, and Natural Ingredients.

So, let’s start with easy-peasy ones. Today it’s gonna be face masks for each skin type with maximum 3 ingredients and those you’ll probably find inside your kitchen. I should add that theoretically, all the ingredients here are good for everyone but the right combination is what make them powerful for each skin’s needs. Also, you don’t need to worry if you have sensitive skin because all the ingredients required are organic and natural.

DIY Face Mask for Oily Skin

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg white
  • juice from 1/2 a lemon

Step by step:

  1. Beat the egg white until it turns a bit frothy.
  2. Squeeze half the lemon before adding it’s juice to your beaten egg white.
  3. Apply the face mask over your skin (avoiding the eyes and mouth).
  4. Leave the mask on your skin for about 30 minutes (skin tightening and a little discomfort are normal while the mask is drying on your face, but this effect quickly disappears once you remove it).
  5. Rinse it off with warm water (you can use a wet warm cloth).

Why is this mask good for oily skin?

  1. Reduces the excess of oil in your skin by tightening and shrinking the size of your pores.
  2. Acts as an exfoliator, cleaning the accumulated dirt inside your pores, the famous blackheads.
  3. Prevents acne.
  4. Lifts and firms your skin.
  5. Delays premature ageing by reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
  6. Evens out inequalities on your skin tone.
  7. Boosts collagen production.

DIY Face Mask for Dry Skin

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg white
  • 1/4 of avocado
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Step by step:

  1. Beat the egg white until it turns a bit frothy.
  2. Mash 1/4 of the avocado before adding it to the egg white.
  3. Add the honey and blend.
  4. Apply the face mask over your skin and leave it for about 15 minutes.
  5. Rinse it off with warm water or a wet warm cloth.

Why is this mask good for dry skin?

  1. The avocado is a powerful moisturiser because it contains oils and nutrients that help to hydrate your skin.
  2. Combined with the egg white will help: cleaning your pores, delaying the premature ageing and firming your skin.
  3. The honey is also very nourishing and will give your complexion an instant glow.

DIY Face Mask for Combination Skin

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg white

  1. Beat the egg white until it turns a bit frothy.
  2. Add the yoghurt to the egg white and mix them.
  3. Apply the mask over your face and leave it for about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Rinse it off with warm water.

Why is this mask good for combination skin?

  1. The yoghurt cleanses and moisturizes your skin, because of its high content of lactic acid is also great for mature skin.
  2. Combined with the egg white will be a very nourishing but also oil controlling mask.
  3. Prevents acne and shrink your pores.
  4. Diminishes blemishes and skin pigmentation.
  5. Delays premature ageing and firms your skin.

DIY Face Mask for Normal Skin

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons of juice from an orange
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Step by step:

  1. Warm up the honey a little bit before mixing it with the juice from the orange.
  2. Apply the mask over your face and neck.
  3. Leave it for about 30 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.

Why is this mask good for normal skin?

  1. The properties contained in the honey will nourish and hydrate your skin.
  2. Combined with the medium level of acidity from the orange juice will offer an ideal balance for normal skin with oil tendency.
  3. Stimulates blood circulation and invigorates the skin tissue.

Important Notes:

  • Make sure you’re not wearing makeup before you apply any of these masks.
  • Wash your face with warm water before you apply them. By doing that you’ll dilate your pores and your skin will receive all the benefits from your mask.
  • Always rinse them off with warm water and if you are using a cloth, make sure that it is properly wet and use it gently.
  • It is important that you apply a moisturizer after any of these masks.
  • To feel and see the results with more efficacy, repeat them at least once a week.
  • Don’t forget that your neck’s skin is as important as your face’s skin.
  • Always use natural and organic ingredients.
