Hello, Lina here! 🙂
In last week’s post, I introduced you to some homemade face masks that you can easily prepare with things you find in your kitchen. There I told you to always clean and moisturize your skin properly after applying one of those masks. While many of you may have bought products for those purposes, today I wanna show you how to make them yourself with really simple ingredients, many of which you might already have at home as well.
Industrial products, while inheriting the obvious advantages of being ready and easy to use and apparent high efficiency, might actually strip your skin of all its natural oil and moisture, thus irritating it and disturbing its natural behaviour. Oily skin can go crazy and start producing, even more, oil while dry or sensitive skin might not even be able to deal with this sort of treatment and become completely drained of all natural nutrition. This can lead to serious and permanent damage to your skin.
Natural organic products, however, don’t pose those threats, because they’re much less aggressive and only affect your skin in a soft, biological way.
So let’s have a look at some cleansers and toners for your skin that you can prepare yourself, using only products you might already have at home or find in your local supermarket.
Coconut Oil & Honey Face Cleanser
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons of honey
Step by step:
- Mix the coconut oil and the honey in a recipient.
- Apply the cleanser on your face and neck and massage with your fingers in a circular motion for about 30 seconds (you can also apply on your eyes to remove makeup).
- Apply a warm towel over your face to open up your pores (wait for about 20 seconds).
- Remove the cleanser with a warm washcloth until you don’t feel greasy anymore.
Lemon & Honey Face Cleanser
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons of honey
Step by step:
- Squeeze the juice of the lemon before mixing it with the honey.
- Apply the cleanser over your face and neck (avoiding the eyes) and massage in circular motion for about 20 seconds.
- Remove it with a warm washcloth.
Yoghurt & Honey Face Cleanser
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of plain yoghurt
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Step by step:
- Mix the yoghurt and the honey in a recipient.
- Apply the cleanser over your face, eyes and neck and massage with your fingers in a circular motion for about 30 seconds (if you have more time to spend, you can leave it for some 2 minutes).
- Remove it with a warm washcloth.
Why are these cleansers good?
- The coconut oil has natural oils that don’t strip your skin by stopping moisture but also helps to reduce the oil lost through your pores.
- All of them have antibacterial properties that will help to fight the bacterias on your skin that cause acne.
- Honey is a natural cleanser and will remove the dirt from your pores.
- Yoghurt is also a natural face cleanser, rich in protein and lactic acid that will help to detoxify your skin.
- Honey and Yoghurt are great exfoliators, getting rid of dead cells and even makeup.
- They are also great moisturizers and will help to hydrate, softening and soothing your skin.
Apple Cider Vinegar Face Toner
Ingredients:
- apple cider vinegar
- water
- 1 recipient (like a bottle that you can close)
Step by step:
- Fill your recipient with 2/3 of water and 1/3 of apple cider vinegar.
- Shake the recipient well and apply the toner to your clean face and neck (avoid the eyes) with a cotton ball or pad.
- Don’t rinse it off.
Why is this toner good?
- The pH of the apple cider vinegar is very close to the ideal human pH, which is 5,5, for this reason, it keeps the skin from becoming too dry or too oily.
- Helps to restore your skin’s pH levels.
- It’s antiseptic and antibacterial and helps to prevent clogged pores and acne.
Natural Oils Face Cleansers, Toners, and Moisturisers
The Oil Method has been on for a very long time but people think it’s a weird thing to do, just like the ones I’ve just mentioned above. For this reason, I’ve decided I’ll write a post only to talk about this subject. What I can say in advance is that I’m using oils for cleansing, tonicifying, and moisturizing for some little time and I’ve never felt my skin better! P.S.: I have combination and sensitive skin.
Important Notes:
- Always use organic and raw products, especially raw honey and raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar.
- Especially for the toner: test on your hand before you apply it to make sure you won’t have any bad reaction.
- For the honey: depending on the weather your honey will be liquid or solid. If you wanna use it always liquid you can warm it up a little bit, on the other hand when it’s solid makes the cleanser a better exfoliator.
- The cleansers and toner mentioned are good for all skin types, you should try and see what works best for you.
