• Golden October •
I’m gonna be quite honest, this is one of those articles I didn’t plan ahead. The most fascinating thing is, though, that they turn out to be my favourites!
Should I listen to the message the universe is telling me here? Probably yes.
Funny facts: it’ll be a shoe tip (again) and guess what? It’s the same pair you’ve seen in my other unplanned article!
The tip is simple but what I really wanna show you is the gorgeous – and unusual – weather we had that week in October.
Mesmerising! Am I right?! When I was strolling through the park I realized that Autumn might be my favourite season of the year. Of course that this beautiful weather is very unusual here in Germany at this time. So much so that the Germans have their own expression for when Autumn this rare happens: “Goldener Oktober” – and it’s golden for a few reasons.
You know when the sun is setting and it gets more yellow and orange, respectively? So, in October the position of the sun is already lower in the sky to begin with, which means that when the sunlight shines through the trees it gives them a shimmery gold effect, especially at sunset. The yellow, orange and red tones of the leaves make this golden effect even more prominent. It’s also called Golden October simply because it’s rare and epic.
This was my forth german Autumn but my first Golden October, and I agree, it IS epic.
By now, you’re probably wondering about the actual fashion tip, here it is: SOCKS!
Calm down, I’ll explain.
actually, there’s not much to write about… the pics are quite clear…
Summer shoes that are partially closed, such as ballerinas, espadrilles, oxfords, loafers or moccasins are not very suitable for when the weather gets colder. Normally, you’d opt for boots but if you’re like me and don’t want to store in your summer darlings just yet, style them with pretty socks.
You can be wildly creative with this. From solid basic colours, like black, to a jacquard pattern like I’m wearing. Below you’ll see some of the combinations I’ve captured in photo throughout last Spring and Autumn.
As I mentioned earlier, this transition can be made simply by adding black socks. The first photo comes from the Fall Into Style – Autumnal Outfit; and the second from The Pajama Piece article, which I published in Summer.
I’m curious… would you like to try pretty socks with your summer shoes? Or when Autumn finally arrives you’re so crazy to start wearing your boots that storing in the summer ones is no problem at all?
And where you live is currently Spring or Autumn? Are you having beautiful weather at yours?
If you decide to style socks with your shoes, make sure to use the hashtag #MyLinaMode because I’d love to see how you’ve done it!
Many kisses and see you soon! 🙂
